SEVRES EMPIRE GILT DECORATED PITCHER. Circa 1804-9. French. A large baluster form pitcher decorated with a wide band of polychrome flowers. A white ground the flaring neck continuing to a spout the front of which features a soft paste or jasper classical bust. The scrolling handle decorated with leaf tips and rosettes. The whole gilt decorated. All on a stepped molded base. The underside marked with the first empire Serves mark in red. SIZE: Height overall 17-3/4″. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Two fine hairline cracks in glaze at front of pitcher at top of floral garland. Otherwise, very good. 9-21442 (800-1,200)
