FINE FRENCH EBONIZED ROSEWOOD TANTALUS. Mid 19th century. The tantalus with hinged lid and sides fitted with the original rosewood, mahogany and cast brass caddy tray, all with cast brass fittings, housing sixteen original cordial stems together with four glass decanters, each simulated gilt decorated overall in gold floral vinery. The cabinet inlaid overall with fine brass stringing centering an inlaid brass cartouche. Also retains original lock and key. SIZE: 10-1/2″ h x 13-1/2″ w x 10-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Box with original ebonized surfaces. Several pieces of brass inlays in need of restoration and reattachment. Some damage and loss to proper right front corner of hinged front. The original stemware and decanters in very good condition with some minor and minimal flea bites throughout. The caddy tray with two small losses at front end of upper tier. 9-21489 (1,000-1,500)
