RARE 39-STAR AMERICAN FLAG. Circa 1889. Flag with 39 stars that never was! Flag manufacturers believed that the two Dakotas would be admitted as one state and so manufactured this flag, some of which still exist. It was never an official flag of the United States. SIZE: 26-1/2″ h x 45-1/2″ l. CONDITION: With some areas of weakness notable in the center of the field and in the center of the lower stripe, additionally some staining and foxing, colors remain strong but with overall fading.
