EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE RARE SCRIMSHAW POWDER HORN. 18th/19th Century. The horn having fully developed scrim covering the area completely. From top to bottom is the following: 1) A large Coat of Arms with military figures holding flags on each side of a crowned seal. 2) A woman holding a wine glass & pitcher “Flare up and go in the Union”. 3) Three men talking “May the road Thistleland and Shamrock still be united”; “Long life to you my boy”; and Here’s more tomorrow and a little everyday”. 4) A man with bottle and cane “An Irishman all in his glory was there with his sprig of shillaley and Shamrock Sagreed”. 5) A large three-mast ship. 6) A woman in plaid outfit with wine glass & bottle “Irish Whiskey”. 7) Spread wing eagle over a knotted snake. 8) A kangaroo and an Auk? with building. Nice patina, buttplug intact and the end having a nicely carved tip. SIZE: 17-1/2″. CONDITION: Very good with minor imperfections. 9-27147 (3,000-4,000)
