FRAMED GEORGE III COMMISSION. Translated as follows: “Our Will & Pleasure is, that out of such Monies as are in or shall come to your hands from the sum voted & appropriated to defray charges incurred by the Cate Armament, you do pay unto Our Trusty & Well beloved Captain Nathaniel Levett Peacocke. The sum of three hundred thirty-three pounds, for shillings & six pence, without deduction, being for the levy money & pay of sundry non commissioned officers & private men raised by him towards forming an independent company of foot, in pursuance of our warrant bearing date the 13th day of October 1790, and also for divers expenses attending the said service, agreeably to the accompnt of particulars hereunto annexed. And for so doing, this, with the acquittance of the said Captain Nathaniel Levett Peacocke, or his assigned, shall be your warrant and discharge. Given at our court at St. James’s this 6th day of June 1792 in the 32nd year of our reign By his majesty’s command” (Signed) indistinctly but signed in large fashion at top of page.Housed in a gesso decorated gilt frame with two window cutouts in a red & gold matte, one showing the letter and the other an engraving of George III.
