ETHEL FRANCES MUNDY (American, 1876-1954) PORTRAIT OF FANNY RIEGEL EVANS. Outstanding medallion wax silhouette depicting a shoulder length silhouette in color of a woman with light brown hair wearing a blue & gold necklace. The silhouette is set against a wax medallion background with the edge having sitters’ name, the date “1915” and the artist’s name. Original gold gilt wood round frame with loop top and front glass. The artist has had two exhibitions, one November 1928 at the Ackermann Galleries in Chicago and the Corcoran in Washington, February 1929. She was a very expensive artist with prices ranging from $400-650 in 1928. Her list of clients included the Fricks, Mellon’s; Morgan’s; Rockefeller’s; Vanderbilt’s & Whitney’s. The sitter, Fanny Evans, was the mother of the four children who founded Mary Elizabeth Restaurant in New York City. SIZE: Sight: 3-1/2″ dia.
