JAMES BUCHANAN (1791-1868) SIGNED LETTER TO GENERAL GEORGE BOWMAN. The autographed letter signed “James Buchanan” and dated 21 September 1861 from “Wheatland near Lancaster”. The four page letter on single folded sheet discusses General Bowman’s support of Buchanan while in the final days of his Presidency vis-a-vis the actions of secessionists in the weeks prior to the attack on Fort Sumpter. SIZE: 6-3/4″ x 8-1/2″ sight. CONDITION: Professionally mounted in a two sided frame. Letter somewhat faded, but readable. Very good with no insect damage, tears or losses. 9-20896 (5,000-10,000)
