UNSIGNED (American, First half of the 19th Century) “VIEW OF CHELSEA, FROM BREED’S HILL IN CHARLESTOWN, MASS. JULY 1827”. Unframed oil on wood panel primitive folk art panoramic scene shows a Boston area view with a town at the side of a river with fenced farmyards, cemetery, and cows. A wooden bridge crosses the water with sailboats on either side leading to intersecting hills with trees, grass and large estate buildings. All under a blue & colorful cloud sky. The title is written on back of panel in large black clear lettering. A wonderful topographical folk art piece of Boston importance. SIZE: 21″ x 26-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Found in a coal bin in the cellar of a Boston area home. Descended & consigned by a family member. CONDITION: The panel is bowed and untouched with surface dirt and light scratch.
