FINE CHIPPENDALE STYLE CARVED PINE ARCHITECTURAL CORNER CUPBOARD. Second quarter 19th century. The cabinet of single piece construction with a cove molded cornice with canted corners projecting above the conforming case having two pair of cupboard doors overall. The upper doors with glass panels opening to a painted interior of two fixed shelves with deeply scalloped front edges. The doors are mounted on brass H-hinges. The cabinet has a large mid-molding centering a serving slide. The lower doors with raised panels opening to an interior fitted with a single fixed shelf. The canted case corners are decorated with recessed panels. The whole raised on a molded bracket base with scalloped returns along the front apron. SIZE: 88″ h x 30″ d of sides. CONDITION: Structurally very good. All parts appear original. No restoration evident. The finished surfaces showing good color and patina, probably original and cleaned. This cupboard is unique from the standpoint that the thickness of all boards used in the construction are thicker than average and hand hewn. 9-98362 (2,000-3,000)
