PARKINSON & FRODSHAM CASED CHRONOMETER. Mid 19th century, England. The instrument mounted on a brass gimbal fitted within original three tier mahogany hinged box with brass carrying handles. The silvered dial with Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic numeral outer dial. Also with subsidiary seconds and “up-down” dial. The dial marked “Parkinson & Frodsham/Change Alley LONDON 1362.” in black enamel. The chain fusee movement with Earnshaw escapement and with blued steel helical balance. SIZE: Dial: 3-3/4″ dia. Box: 6-3/4″ x 6-3/4″ x 6-3/8″. CONDITION: Generally very good. Last recorded cleaning and service in 1965. Beveled glass lens with small chip on edge. Case generally good. 9-25851 (2,500-3,500)
