SIGNED (European, 19th Century) PAIR OF TAVERN SCENES. 1) Oil on canvas scene shows two men, one with Rhine wine goblet half full. He puts up to edge of candle and both view the fine wine. A recent tapped keg is seen and has name and date. All in an interior setting. 2) Oil on canvas mounted on masonite scene shows two men playing chess in fancy interior. Both paintings are signed lower left illegibly. Both identically housed in gesso decorated leaf frames. SIZE: 22-1/4” x 19-1/2”. CONDITION: Generally good with some restoration and inpainting. 9-25611 (1,000-2,000)
