FINE SAILOR’S SHELL WORK MEMORIAL IN SHADOW BOX FRAME. Last half 19th century. Modeled in the form of a crucifix on plinth, the shellwork all in shades of white and ivory. Comprised of flower heads amidst sprays of wheat or of grasses. Done with seed shells. Cross mounted within a Victorian walnut shadow box frame. SIZE: 15″ h of cross x approx 9″ w. 22″ h overall x 17″ w overall x 7-1/2″ d overall. PROVENANCE: Barnard Estate of Augusta, Maine.
