IMPORTANT DEER AND HOUND COPPER WEATHERVANE. Late 19th, early 20th century. Attributed to J.W. Fiske, New York. Depicting full copper bodies of a hound pursuing a deer. Excellent weathered green patina. Deer with copper clad zinc antlers and sheet copper ears, head erect and wide eyed. Offered with museum stand. NOTE: Nearly identical example illustrated on page 22 of the 1875 J.W. Fiske catalog. SIZE: 25″ h overall x 51″ l. CONDITION: Very good untouched verdigris surfaces with traces of original gilding. Old solder repairs to seam at throat of deer, currently with minor joint openings. Otherwise very good overall. 9-26046 (15,000-25,000)
