CASED MODEL OF THE CLIPPER SHIP “DREADNOUGHT”. Late 19th, early 20th century. This very fine planked model of the clipper ship Dreadnought built in Newburyport, Massachusetts is full rigged but without sails and with realistic elements throughout. The name “DREADNOUGHT” on the stern board. Additionally, the figurehead in the form of an eagle. Mounted in the original walnut and glass case fitted to a stand. Additionally mounted in the base of the stand is a small tooth scrimshawed “The Dreadnought”. SIZE: Model: approx 27″ h x approx 38″ l. Case: 45-14/2″ h x 40″ l x 15-1/2″ w.
