SET OF 6 NEW ENGLAND PAINT-DECORATED & STENCILED PLANK SEAT FANCY CHAIRS. Circa 1840. Each curved back splat stencil-decorated with a basket of fruit, the mid splat stenciled with a foliate spray, supported by four tapered paint-decorated spindles, all joined to backswept arrow stiles. The shaped plank seat with rolled rail decorated in mustard graining. The chair with rosewood faux graining overall, raised on simulated bamboo turned legs. SIZE: Each: 34-1/2″ h. of back x 17-1/2″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Chairs retain all original untouched surfaces, with minor and acceptable wear and scuff marks.
