NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE MAPLE BONNET TOP HIGHBOY. Last quarter 18th century, possibly Rhode Island. In two parts, the upper case with full bonnet and swan’s neck molded cornice terminating in fan carved rosettes alternating with brass ball and spire finials above the shaped frieze above a central fan carved drawer flanked by short drawer with concave upper edge over four graduated long drawers, all with thumbmolded edges. Joined to the mid-molded lower case fitted with a central fan carved drawer flanked by a short drawer above an arcaded apron raised on bandy angular cabriole legs terminating in oblique ridged pointed pad feet. SIZE: 78″ h x 36″ w of case, 41″ w overall, 21-1/2″ d overall. CONDITION: Cleaned and refinished with newly polished surfaces. Antique, if not original, hardware. Backboards original. Professional restoration to some molded drawer edges. Legs and feet without restoration. Overall very good. 9-21570 (3,000-5,000)
