OVAL PORTRAIT OF LT. JOHN PINE DECATUR, U.S. NAVY. John was son of John P. Decatur and Maria Suzanna Ten Eyck. The oval oil on board half portrait shows a young man with beard wearing a blue uniform with gold button and epaulets. Unsigned but being identified on the back of the board and also on the back of the frame. Housed in a period gilt molded wood frame with metal gilt matte having an oval window. SIZE: Sight: 6″ x 4-3/4″. CONDITION: Area around mouth and beard has losses, otherwise very good. 9-97960 (800-1,200)
