EARLY CARVED AND DECORATED DOCUMENT BOX. First quarter 19th century. The rectangular box with nicely carved and painted lid depicting fruit trees and branches centering a ring carrying handle flanked by “H M/NEWHALL” raise carved in lid. The sides additionally decorated with carved diamond shaped devices each centering a raised circle and dot. Painted overall in black with reddish highlights. SIZE: 5-1/2″ h x 19-1/4″ l x 10-1/4″ d. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Painted surfaces worn at edges of lid. 7-70069 (4,000-6,000)
