RARE VERDIGRIS MOLDED COPPER AND ZINC FORMAL EQUESTRIAN WEATHERVANE. Third quarter 19th century. Attributed to A.L. Jewell, Waltham, MA. This fine example depicting a female rider in full dress and high hat seated erect on a prancing horse with weathered green surfaces. Offered with museum stand. NOTE: A similar example sold at Christie’s, New York January 2006, Lot 416. A nearly identical example illustrated The Art of the Weathervane by Steve Miller, page 69. SIZE: 27″ h x 28″ l.
