NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE SLANT LID DESK. Last quarter 18th century, probably Eastern Massachusetts. The rectangular dovetailed maple case with hinged sloping lid opening to an arrangement of valanced cubby holes over small drawers, above lopers and with four graduated long drawers with molded edges on a molded base raised on bracket feet with shaped returns. The desk in original red wash with white pine and chestnut secondary woods. SIZE: 42″ h x 36″ w of case x 18-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Generally very good with original brasses and original repaired bracket feet. Lid with repair at hinge on proper right side. 9-27062 (2,000-3,000)
