OUTSTANDING ENGLISH VICTORIAN GILT STERLING TANKARD. The cylindrical body having repousse scroll, flower, & geometric motifs supported on a bulging base having four feet. The hinged cover with thumb lift having a globe type finial which matches the feet. English hallmarks London, 1880/1; Maker’s mark “JA JS”. Inside of the cover edge is engraved “Artemas Ward”. WEIGHT: 55 tr. oz. SIZE: 14-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Very good. 9-21428 (1,000-2,000)
