OUTSTANDING GEORGE III STERLING SILVER TEA URN BY JOHN SCHOFIELD. Hallmarked 1790/1, having no monogram but engraved with a half rampant lion on base. In two parts; the top with relief repousse scene with houses, men drinking, tree & fence. The urn section having two shallow sweeping handles, the body with a village scene with buildings, trees, multiple figures including men smoking pipes; two men at a table drinking; a storyteller talking to a family including two children on a bench, mother standing & dog. All ending in a square base with four feet. The long spigot having a T-shape carved ivory/bone handle. WEIGHT: 94 tr. oz. SIZE: 21″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones.
