FIRST EDITION, 12mo, original boards. Some foxing throughout but an acceptable copy of this account of the controversy between Elliot (Perry’s second in command) and Admiral Oliver Hazzard Perry. The claims and counter claims went on for some 30 years. Of significant interest are the diagrams charting the movements of the schooner Scorpion during the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. WITH: HISTORICAL LITERARY AND ARTISTICAL TRAVELS IN ITALY. By M. Valery. Paris: 1852. Half leather (very good, 8vo.). The large folding map of Italy (dated 1839) is hand colored and outlined but is foxed with a clean tear where the map is attached to the gutter. WITH: VILLETTE by Currer Bell (Charlotte Bronte). New York: Harper Bros., 1853. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Occasional light foxing, crown chipped but complete, the spine a bit faded. This is Charlotte Bronte’s last novel. The novel is complete including the ads at end. WITH: Claver’s, Mary, A NEW HOME-WHO WILL FOLLOW? New York/Boston: 1839. FIRST EDITION of Howe’s K-184. Complete with leaf of ads at rear.
