Complete with all twelve plates (seven folding). Laid in is a slip reading “This book presented to Tobias Lear by Geo. Washington (documented”. With the book plate of Benjamin Lincoln Lear. See Howes S-981 stating; “First book carrying a dedication to Washington.” One of the earliest and most significant military manuals to advance the principles of guerrilla warfare. A book of great historical importance. This work is cited on the list of “Catalogue of Books received from Washington” found in this estate and sold as Lot 2135. WITH THE BOOKPLATE OF BENJAMIN LINCOLN LEAR. CONDITION: Slight loss to margin only of Plate IV. Outer front hinge started, but absolutely tight and sound.
