First illustrated editions published by Pierre-Jules Hetzel (1814-1886) including Les Enfants du Capitaine Grant 622 pages plus eight pages of advertisements, L’ile Mysterieuse 612 pages plus eight pages of advertisements, Le Sphinx des Glaces 447 page plus eight pages of advertisements, and Vingt Mille Lieges Sous Les Mers 634 pages plus eight pages of advertisements. Many black and white illustrations. Text in French. Original decorative red and blue cloth with gilt designs and lettering. All edges gilt. Early 20th century. Wallace Nutting set published by Old America Company, Framingham, Massachusetts. Volumes one and two retain dust jackets and in original cardboard sleeve, copyright 1928. Volume three without dust cover, copyright 1933. Of special interest is that the set is retained in the original wood shipping crate with mailing label from Wallace Nutting, Old America Co. of Framingham, Massachusetts. CONDITION: Verne books with wear to spines and edges of covers. Pages generally good. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with water staining at bottom outer corner of first 75 pages.
