SIR ALFRED JAMES MUNNINGS (British, 1878-1959) “STUDIES OF HAPPY LAUGHTER”. Outstanding and large oil on wood panel study of the racehorse “ happy Laughter”. Various angles of the horse are seen with two full profiles standing on green pasture against a blue and white cloud sky. Four other horse sketches are seen in foreground. In right corner is written “Studies of Happy Laughter at Hadrian Stud, Newmarket October 1953 42”. Back of panel with a Royal Academy of Arts Diploma Gallery label. Also a label from James Bourlet & Sons, LTD. Unsigned. Housed in a fine gesso decorated gilt frame behind glass. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection, Monmouth, Maine (FW Woolworth Dept. Store).
