FREDERICK JULIAN ILSLEY (American, 1855-1933) GRAY DAY ON THE MAINE COAST. Oil on board coastal scene shows a large rock shoreline being hit by large wave. Sea is in gray and white under gray sky. Signed lower right “F. J. Ilsley” and dated “Mch. 24 1918”. Housed in what appears to be its original carved wood gold frame with glass front. Ilsley was part of the Brushians Group of Maine and was nicknamed “The Politician”. SIGHT SIZE: 16-1/2” x 23-1/2”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-72575 (800-1,200)
