ABBOTT FULLER GRAVES (American, 1859-1936) THE FISHERMAN’S TATTOO. Oil on canvas scene shows New England fisherman with white beard, hat suspended overalls and red shirt. Fisherman is seated with rolled up sleeve and is looking down at young girl in blue outfit with matching hat. She has hands at edge of his arm, which supports a large tattoo. A clay pipe is in fisherman’s right hand with wood tub beside. Signed lower left “Abbott Graves”. Housed in a fine gilt gesso decorated replacement frame. SIZE: 20” x 18”. CONDITION: Relined, new stretcher, very good. 9-93896 (3,000-5,000)
