HAROLD ANDERSON (American, 1894-1973) PORTRAIT OF CHARLES T. HAIGHT. Oil on canvas portrait shows man with red shirt seated at desk with open book, miniature bowfront chest and mug of paintbrushes. Quill pen in his right hand appears to be putting a title to a painting. A brass inkwell and Stamp holder are on table. These two items accompany the painting. Mr. Haight (1904-1980) was director of the design department of the New York firm of B. Altman & Co. from 1945-1960. He worked on the re-design of the White House renovations during the Truman Administration. Signed lower right and identified on the reverse. Housed in its original stained gray wood frame with linen liner. SIZE: 24” x 30”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-95374 (1,000-1,500)
