THOMAS DOUGHTY (American, 1793-1856) SAILING ON A SUMMER DAY. Fine oil on board landscape scene shows a small lake at the base of majestic mountains. Two people are heading out in a small sailboat to catch another which is in the middle of the lake. A scene very reminiscent of Mt. Washington and surrounding area. Signed lower left. Housed in its original gesso decorated frame with newer bronze coloring. Original Thomas Miller artist board label affixed to reverse. Also an old label with early writing having artist name and possible title. Frame having a gallery sticker from “Braus Gallery New York City”. SIZE: 12″ x 10″.
