ATTRIBUTED TO FRANCIS AUGUSTUS SILVA (American, 1835-1886) SUNSET AT LAKE GEORGE. Oil on canvas scene shows a wonderful sunset sky over a calm lake which reflects the color of the sky. A log cabin is scene on grassy peninsula with outbuilding and sailboat near shore. Unsigned front but having an early typed label on reverse with artist name. Housed in what appears to be its large fancy gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 18″ x 28″. CONDITION: There are two small holes, one in water and one in sky, original canvas, chipped area to right bottom corner, otherwise good, frame has breaks in liner. 9-92175 (8,000-10,000)
