A. STANICK (German 19th Century) SLEEPING FRIAR. Oil on wood panel scene shows a man with light gray robe dozing after putting his book down in a library setting. Signed upper left and dated 1884. Housed in its fine period gesso decorated deep frame with gilt liner. Having an artist’s plaque which is misspelled. SIZE: 12-1/2″ x 9-1/4″. CONDITION: Vertical type split with minimum paint loss, otherwise very good. 9-25794 (400-800)
