HENRY BACON (American, 1839-1912) HAULING IN THE BOAT. Watercolor and pencil on paper scene shows men and women turning a large turn buckle, which is attached to a large sailboat. They pull it up on the beach. Ocean and sails in background. Thatched roof house on left side. Appears to be a Normandy, French scene. Signed lower left, also title on right side “Au Cabestan.” “Ceux Qui Causent Ne Pous Cents Pas Fort”. Housed in an antique gesso decorated deep frame having a gray bottom edge matte.
