RARE AND EXCEPTIONAL AMERICAN GOTHIC REVIVAL OAK HALL CHAIR OF CARVED OWLS. Circa 1880. The back realistically carved depicting two owls perched on rockwork: one with open glass eyes, the other with closed eyes; joined to the molded trapezoidal seat projecting above the scalloped and incised apron, raised on tapering spiral-twist legs terminating in ball feet. SIZE: 38-1/4″ h. of back x 19″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Original untouched condition with nice patina and good crisp carving. 9-91904 (600-1,000)
