GEORGE II CARVED GILT WOOD MIRROR. Circa 1740. The rectangular upright plate within an architectural framework carved with diamond strap work enclosing flower heads and with ribbon twist, flower head and egg-and-dart borders. Flanked by pendent floral branches surmounted by a frieze applied with a central pierced medallion flanked by crossed acanthus leaves and bow knotted floral garlands. Supporting a break arch crest centering a foliate cartouche. The shaped apron incorporating grotesque masks and central cartouche with foliate details. SIZE: 76-1/2” h x 35” w.
