WWII JAPANESE BATTLE FLAG. Framed flag 29” wide by 25-1/2” high with a large red circle on white background. The white background is almost completely covered with Japanese writing. In the upper left corner is an English notation dated “Feb 24th 1944”. The notation reads “This Japanese battle flag is presented by Col. C.L. Fix commanding the 65th Regt. 22nd Division to Col. Carleton Smith Chief liaison officer of the Div. commemorating the capture of TARO and YAWNPANG GA by 65th Regt.” CONDITION: Soiled and faded with a hole in the meatball with scattered rusty brown stains that may be blood.
