JAN JACOB SPOHLER (Netherlands, 1811-1866) WINTER SKATING. Unframed oil on canvas winter scene shows a frozen body of water with many people on the ice, some skating, others visiting a tent which has been set up at the shoreline. In the foreground is a man and woman at their house with large haystack. All under blue and white cloud sky with a flock of birds. Signed lower right “J.J. Spohler A 1834″. SIZE: 11-1/4″ x 14-1/4”.
