TWO SIMILAR PENNSYLVANIA BOW-BACK WINDSOR SIDE CHAIRS, ONE BRANDED “AW”. Circa 1800. The first branded example with a balloon-back curved crest rail centering nine simulated bamboo spindles joined to the shaped saddle seat with incised edges raised on simulated swelled cylindrical legs joined by a box stretcher. The second example with a similar molded balloon back centering eight simulated bamboo spindles joined to the shaped saddle seat raised on swelled cylindrical splayed legs joined by a box stretcher. SIZE: 36″ h. of backs x 17″ h. of seats. CONDITION: Both with cleaned old surfaces showing acceptable wear, no restorations noted. 9-91708 (1,000-1,200)
