JOSEPH DELANEY (American, 1904-1991) FACTORY TOWN. An interesting oil on masonite painting depicting various stages in the development of an industrial town or state. Various parts of the painting depict pivotal points of a town in transition. Included are the farmer in the field, production line manufacturing, education through classroom, gathering of people around table and a large river damn. Delaney was an African-American artist who spent much of his time in and around New York City and was a student of Thomas Hart Benton. Painting is pencil signed on back top left of masonite. Unsigned on front. Housed in a wood molded frame with white liner. SIZE: 24” x 15”. CONDITION: Very good. (1,750-2,500)
