CHARLES DANA GIBSON (American, 1867-1944) TWO WORKS: “ON THE BANK AT KOMOMBO” & RUGBY. Both unframed. 1) Oil on heavy paper shows two men in traditional robes. Titled on reverse and signed middle bottom. Back with pencil “Pall Mall Mag”. 2) Pen & pencil on board sporting scene illustration shows two young men side by side, one reaching out for an oncoming ball which is not visible. Signed bottom middle. SIZE: 1) 14″ x 12-1/4″. 2) 23-3/4″ x 18-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Descended through the artist family. CONDITION: 1) The right side has been scratched out with what appears to have been more of the illustration, otherwise good with some surface dirt. 2) As found with losses to edges, spot foxing and surface dirt 9-23007, 9-23010 (1,000-2,000)
