AIDEN LASSELL RIPLEY (American, 1896-1969) THE WARTIME LOOKOUT. Fine large watercolor scene shows a small shelter situated on a bluff overlooking a town in a winter landscape. The sun has set and a colorful yellow to blue sky is present. Two men look in opposite directions, one with binoculars. Signed lower right “A Lassell Ripley 1942″. Housed in a fine carved and gilt frame with white matte. Ripley has depicted a part of the call to the Citizenship of America to help in the war effort. This scene depicts two men looking out over a New England town for oncoming planes. SIZE: Sight: 20-1/2″ x 29”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-24600 (3,500-4,000)
