E.L. KINLOCH (American/European, 19th Century) SADNESS AT THE ARENA. Large oil on canvas classical scene shows the king and his entourage looking at the recently speared bull while a nude maiden is draped over the bull with hands and feet tied surrounded by garlands of flowers. Onlookers are on the balcony of the white marble facade. The king’s throne is being carried through open gates while men with weapons look on. Signed lower left. Housed in a gilt gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 30″ x 60″. CONDITION: Some inpainting. Very good. 9-25493 (2,500-3,500)
