FRENCH MONKEY FIDDLER AUTOMATON. Possibly by Phailibois, this well detailed monkey fiddler is contained upon a black ebonized base (lacking glass dome) with music. This well-costumed monkey (soiled minor and some deterioration) proceeds to play his fiddle while his eyes roll; head nods and smiles exposing a toothy grin! Sitting atop their perches, birds watch enthralled with the fiddle player. A stream of water is gently flowing to the right of the monkey, adding to the whimsy of this piece. SIZE: 14” w x 7” d x 14” h. CONDITION: Overall condition is good; dustiness to piece. Black ebonized base with various imperfections. 1-1984 (3000-4000)
