BEN FOSTER (American, 1852-1926) “EARLY MORNING MT. DESERT ISLAND, MAINE”. Large oil on canvas scene shows early morning sunrise on bush covered sand dunes. A flock of seagulls flies over central sky area. A sliver of red morning sunlight is seen at left distance. A dark, but very well done painting. Signed lower right “Ben Foster”. Housed in a fine gilt gesso decorated frame with white linen liner with a “Guido Frame Studio, Boston” stamp. Title written on frame. SIZE: 42” x 59”. CONDITION: Relined. Canvas has air pockets where old and new canvas did not glue properly. Some repair with inpainting. Otherwise very good. 9-93423 (6,000-8,000)
