EIGHT OUTSTANDING CARVED EUROPEAN STYLE DINING CHAIRS. The lot consists of a set of five matching chairs and a set of three matching side chairs. All with matching rose tapestry style over upholstered seats. Five (four side and one armchair) having carved back splat with winged lion and leaf decoration. The crest with central head profile and leaf carving. The front legs are carved standing lions with large claw feet. Front flat carved stretcher with two side stretchers. Armchair with similar features except with large carved arms. The set of three similar side chairs are very similar in design having eagle back-splats, crests with central head profile flanked by lions heads. The legs have full standing lions with claw feet. One with flat carved stretcher and side stretchers, the other two with H-stretcher. PROVENANCE: From a fine Hallowell, Maine mansion. SIZE: Side chairs are 44-1/2″ h x 21-1/2″ seat h x 19-1/2″ w. Armchair is 48-1/2″ h x 22″ seat h x 25-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Generally very good. 9-26896 (2,000-4,000)
