NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER SIGNED BY ANNA SMEDLEY, 1810. Executed in a variety of green, blue, pink, brown, and mustard stitches on a linen ground with paneled rows of flowerheads, letters, numerals, and the following: Anna Smedley the daughter of George Smedley and Anna his Wife made her Sampler in the 16th year of her age 1810 followed by two rows of random letters of undecipherable meaning. Ends with of the 7th Month 1810 W L within a panel of floral-filled vases and flowers. SIZE: Sight: 16-1/4″ x 13″. CONDITION: Nice overall, structurally sound, stitching faded. Mounted in a later bird’s-eye maple frame. 9-91936 (400-600)
