SCARCE WALKER GENERAL STORE OAK SPICE & DRY GOODS COUNTER. This multi-drawer, compartmentalized tall oak cabinet with four large mirror-front drawers below (marked beans, flour, sugar and rice). Above are six smaller swing-down compartments for allspice, white pepper, ginger, mustard and cayenne. Above the third tier with six open compartments which may have been for holding cloth or paper various sized sacks for putting goods in. This is a hard-to-find country store display in nice golden oak. Three of the cast metal handles below marked, “WALKER BIN COMPANY, PENN YAN, NEW YORK”. One handle probably an old replacement. The upper level drawers with cast brass handles, four of which have raised letters, “W.B. CO.”, the other two handles are probably old period replacements. Sides are solid flat but fronts of drawers are molded. SIZE: 74-1/2” w x 54” h (not including wheels on bottom) x 23” d (at deepest point at base and top 18” d). CONDITION: Wood may have been refinished a long time ago. One front panel on large door with veneer rippling a little and molding on one of the smaller drawers slightly different from the rest.
