WILLIAM FREDERICK DE HAAS (American, 1830-1880) COMING RAIN-ISLE OF SHOALS. Fine oil on canvas seascape shows rocky shoreline with crashing waves with white spray. Greenish ocean with large lighthouse and buildings on island. Building white clouds in distance, blue sky with rain cloud and rain approaching from left. Partially obscuring two sailboats. Signed lower right “Wm F. de Haas”. Housed in what appears to be its original outstanding gilt gesso decorated frame with gold liner. SIZE: 14” x 24”. CONDITION: Relined, two professional repairs with inpainting. 9-95101 (12,000-15,000)
