GREAT COLORFUL LITHO HANOVER INSURANCE PAPER SIGN. This great 19th Century sign advertising Hanover Fire Insurance Company with a liberty figure holding a pole and cap and another figure of justice with her scales and sword. The Hanover trademark surmounted by a fantastic 19th century spread-winged eagle w/ shield. Below, “NEW YORK CASH ASSETS OVER $1 MILLION DOLLARS. I. RENSEN LANE SECRETARY BENJ. S. WOLCOTT PRESIDENT.” Then beneath the sign, “THE MAJOR AND KNAPP ENG. MFG. IN LITHO. CO., 56 & 58 PARK PLACE, NEW YORK”. Matted and framed in a beautiful contemporary mahogany molded frame. SIZE: (incl. frame) 25-1/2”w x 31”h; (image only) 18-1/2”w x 23-1/2”h. CONDITION: colors are beautiful and bright. There is a slight, almost invisible stain in the margin near the top.
