UNUSUAL PENNSYLVANIA NEEDLEWORK CROSS-STITCHED SAMPLER, 1813. Executed with rows of polychrome petit-point, needlepoint, and cross-stitched letters and numerals, the divided lower half wrought with a series of folk art symbols including birds, stylized trees, deer, and various other devices like those found in Pennsylvania Dutch art. Top line possibly with the name of the maker: MACDALE A KREPIL, the second row with the date 1813, the initials M K found at the center of the bottom. SIZE: Sight: 17″ x 18″. CONDITION: Overall very good, with oxidation losses to some brown stitching, staining to right of center. Mounted in a later frame. 9-91743 (500-1,000)
